Education is one of Zichron Ya'akov's highest priorities. More than 5,600 students attend the town's educational institutions, and the municipality offers a wide range of educational frameworks, including state (Mamlachti), state religious (Mamlachti Dati), mixed religious, and ultra-Orthodox schools, as well as a variety of kindergartens serving the community's diverse population.

The Zichron Ya'akov Municipality invests approximately 40% of its municipal budget in education, reflecting its commitment to providing high-quality learning environments and educational opportunities for children of all backgrounds.

Registration

Before registering your child for kindergarten or school, you must first register as a resident of Zichron Ya'akov using the following link:

https://rishum.sensory.co.il/resident-registration

Please complete the form in Hebrew and attach the following documents:

  • Both parents Teudot Zehut (including the Sefach – blue appendix) or passports.
  • Your children's passports if they do not yet have Teudot Zehut or are not on your sefach.
  • A signed rental or property purchase agreement.
  • If you are moving from another municipality in Israel, a cancellation of registration letter from your previous municipality.
  • Divorced parents must provide a divorce agreement that specifies custody arrangements.
  • Single or divorced parents may be required to submit an affidavit, available on the municipal website.

After submitting your residency registration, families wishing to register for a state religious (Mamlachti Dati) kindergarten or school should contact the Education Department, as the default registration track is the state (Mamlachti) system.

During the official registration period (generally held in January), parents can submit their kindergarten and first-grade preferences through the online registration system on the Zichron Ya'akov Municipality website.

Kindergarten

Kindergarten placement is determined according to the child's age:

  • Gan Chova – Age 5
  • Trom Chova – Age 4
  • Trom Trom Chova – Age 3

Elementary Schools

Grades 1-8 or 1-6 in the religious school

The public education system includes both state (Mamlachti) and state religious (Mamlachti Dati) schools.

Children from families choosing the state religious education system may register for Yavetz School, regardless of their residential zone within Zichron Ya'akov.

Enrollment in state schools is generally based on residential zoning. Every child is assigned an "anchor school" according to their registered address. Parents may request placement in another school by ranking their preferred schools during the registration process.

Applications for schools outside the designated zoning area are reviewed by the municipal placement committee and are subject to available space. If the number of applicants exceeds the number of available places, placement may be determined by lottery.

Please ensure that your Teudat Zehut reflects your current residential address before registering.

Placement

Submitting a registration request does not guarantee placement in a specific kindergarten or school.

Placements are determined according to municipal policy, residential zoning, parental preferences, and space availability. Families are generally notified of placements during the spring or early summer.

Families are encouraged to register during the official registration period to ensure timely placement.

Requests to transfer schools, register outside the designated zoning area, or attend a school outside Zichron Ya'akov must be submitted during the official registration period using the forms published on the municipal website. Supporting documentation must be included with the application.
