The Department of Social Services provides support and assistance to senior residents. Social workers specializing in services for seniors are assigned by neighborhood and clubs (such as Kef for English speakers, Café Eropa for Russian-speakers, Holocaust survivors, and more). Kehila Tomechet (Supportive Community)

Kehila Tomechet is a community support program that helps older adults continue living independently in their own homes. Members receive access to a range of practical, social, and emergency support services.

Services may include:

  • Emergency response button
  • Home maintenance assistance
  • Transportation services
  • Social activities
  • Home haircuts
  • Additional services at reduced rates

A monthly membership fee applies.

KEF Club (Community • English • Fun)

The KEF Club is a welcoming social club for English-speaking adults aged 55+, sponsored by the Zichron Yaakov Municipality's Social Services Department.

The club meets every Monday from 9:00 am - 11:30 am (times may vary depending on the activity). Most gatherings take place at the club's home at Beit Tishbi, 4 Rehov Hanadiv, Zichron Yaakov.

The KEF Club offers a warm and friendly community where members can:

  • Celebrate Jewish and Israeli holidays together
  • Attend informative talks on local services and community resources
  • Enjoy outings and trips to nearby places of historical and cultural significance
  • Participate in lectures and cultural programs
  • Meet new friends and enjoy regular social gatherings
  • Ask questions and receive guidance about living in the area
  • Build connections and access helpful local resources

There is no membership fee to join the KEF Club.

Hatzav Program

The Hatzav ("Young at Heart") program, operated by the Zamarin Community Center, offers a wide variety of activities for seniors, including lectures, workshops, trips, fitness classes, and cultural events.

Arnona (Municipal Property Tax) Discount

Eligible senior citizens may qualify for a municipal property tax (Arnona) discount on their primary residence, subject to the criteria established by law.

First Aliyah Museum

Located at 2 HaNadiv Street, the First Aliyah Museum offers exhibitions, educational programs, lectures, and cultural events throughout the year.

Bridge Club

Bridge games are held free of charge for Zichron Yaakov residents on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, from 5:00–7:00 p.m., at the former Yaavetz building, 100 HaMeyasdim Street.

Senior citizens may be eligible for discounts on selected cultural events and performances. Please contact ELMA Arts Complex for current discounts and event information.

Movies

Senior citizens holding a valid Israeli Senior Citizen Card may be eligible for discounted movie tickets at participating cinemas, including Planet at Mall Zichron. Discounts and terms are determined by the cinema and may vary.

ESRA – English Speakers' Residents Association

ESRA is a nationwide charitable organization that supports English speakers in Israel through volunteering, education, and community activities for all ages.

The Zichron branch offers a variety of local programs and opportunities, including:

  • An English second-hand bookshop
  • English tutoring and educational support
  • Volunteer opportunities
  • Access to national programs and community initiatives
